Eureka! He found it! What was Archimedes climbing into, according to legend, when he discovered the physics principle of displacement?

Correct answer:
  • The bathtub

Incorrect answers:
  • A box
  • A cave
  • A treehouse

Interesting Info:
  • Archimedes was working on how to tell real and imitation gold apart. While climbing into a bathtub, he noticed that his body displaced some water over the side of the tub. From there, it took only a few experiments to prove that an object displaced an amount of water equal to its volume. Thus a lump of pure gold, which is very dense, will displace less water than a lump of fake gold of equal weight.
