It would take a very long yardstick to measure the approximately 392,268 kilometers from the earth to the moon! What tool was actually used to measure the exact distance?

Correct answer:
  • A laser

Incorrect answers:
  • A telescope
  • A rocket
  • A sonar generator

Interesting Info:
  • Astronauts took mirrors to the moon and set them up so that laser beams from earth could strike them and reflect back to earth. The time that this took was measured, and, since the laser beam traveled at the speed of light, a distance could be calculated.
