What does the term Mystery refer to?
A mystery is something that baffles understanding and cannot
be explained. Mysteries are also stories where a problem, crime
or puzzle must be solved.
Mysteries often contain secrets or hidden qualities that must
be solved. There may be information that is unknown and must be
explained. Professional detectives and sleuths seek out clues to
solve mysteries. To solve a mystery, people must use their
skills and reasoning.
Mysteries have become a popular genre of fiction among people
of all ages and people enjoy reading mystery books.

Mystery books can be divided in to 2 categories
i. Fictional Mystery Books
ii. Non-fictional Mystery Books
Non - Fictional mystery books usually contains a story where
a detective (may be a professional or amateur) investigates and
solves a crime, where as Mystery fiction concentrates more on
the logical aspect and the solution that exists in the
mystifying element.
While talking about mystery books another term that comes in
to light is Genre fiction, also known as popular fiction, is a
term for fictional works (novels, short stories) written with
the intent of fitting into a specific literary genre in order to
appeal to readers and fans already familiar with that
genre.There are many different ways of labeling and defining
fiction genres such as Action-adventure fiction, Crime fiction,
Detective fiction, Fantasy fiction, Horror fiction, Mystery
fiction, Science fiction and Romance.
